Sister Circle


Sister Circle is a program in African American Programs & Services, created to uplift, motivate, and build relationships with African American women on the campus of Northern Kentucky University. Sister Circle will enrich the lives of African American women so they are empowered to share their experiences and are motivated to succeed.


Signature Programs:

  • Welcome Tea 
    This event welcomes African American Faculty, Staff, and undergraduate women to the start of the school year each Fall Semester


  • Pass the Torch Ceremony
    This affirmation ceremony, which takes place each Spring Semester, acknowledges African American undergraduate women and     their contributions and accomplishments to the NKU community. Graduating Seniors “ Pass the Torch” to remaining underclassmen and challenges them to keep the torch for leadership, social justice, mentorship, and academic scholarship alive.


  •  Annual Conference 
    The goal of the conference is to motivate women to excel academically, create community with other women, and to expand their professional network. Participants will engage in a variety of activities/workshops that will contribute to personal and professional growth. Sister Circle also celebrates Women’s History Month with a lecture each March.
