Welcome from Our Director
“If you want to go quickly, go alone, if you want to go far, go together."
~ African Proverb
On behalf of African American Programs and Services (AAP&S) I want to welcome you to Northern Kentucky University! Our office strives to uphold the principle of Umoja which means to strive for and maintain unity in the family and community. We are truly a “home away from home” for students, faculty, and staff. We provide programming, advocacy, and outreach that assists with retaining African American students, and encourages them to achieve their academic and personal goals.
We are gearing up for the 2016-2017 academic year! We are partnering with our newly re- organized Black Student Union (BSU) to host "Welcome Black Week" which includes a week long of events during Fall Semester. We are excited to once again welcome our first year students on campus to the 13th year of our signature program NKU R.O.C.K.S., and will introduce to the first year students their Major K.E.Y.S.!
It takes a village to create leaders, and to ensure the success of students! Toegether, we will uphold the principle of Umoja and create leaders who will be chage agents for our commUNITY!
